These past few years have been marked by a wealth of activity for
Deirdre. Having completed several tours with Lord Of The Dance
and after that with The Celtic Tenors, Deirdre was welcomed into
Celtic Woman where she toured with them for some time. She then
embarked on new endeavors which brought her great critical acclaim.
The release of her debut album Deirdre Shannon which featured the
songs The Prayer and She Moved Through The Fair, earned
her not only one award for 'Album of the Year', but two more awards for
'Track of the Year' from two American based radio stations Celtic
Radio and Highlander Radio and the Scottish based radio
program No Celtic Boundaries.
Deirdre joined forces with Debra Stuart (Scottish mezzo soprano) and
Gina Hanley (Irish soprano) to form The Celtic Divas. They made
a new album One More Day with The Royal Scottish National
Orchestra under the musical direction of David Munro and successfully
toured with The Canadian Tenors. Deirdre combined her talents
with Derek Moloney and Cora Smyth in Frank McNamara's new show If
You're Irish, which also successfully toured the USA.
Currently, Deirdre has returned to the stage portraying Erin the
Goddess in Lord of the Dance. She just returned from a Dutch
and Belgian tour with the Irish show Ragus. Deirdre is also
planning a new album, details of which will feature on this website
soon!
